For Drones under 250g:
If your drone weighs less than 250 grams and is not a toy or has a camera, you are required to obtain an Operator ID. However, a Flyer ID is not mandatory for these drones.
For Drones over 250g:
For drones weighing 250 grams or more, you must have both a Flyer ID and an Operator ID
Link to get Flyer ID:
All you need to do, is go on CAA website and apply for Flyer ID and Operator ID , link: Click me.
While Flyer ID is free of charge, and you need to pass a test every 5 years on CAA website.
Operator ID:
You must be over 18 years old to be able to get the Operator ID and pay annual fees to CAA.
The Operator ID needs to be renewed every year, in order to fly heavier drones.
The renewal cost is £11.13, and again, is valid for 1 year only.
Once you have clicked on the link above, just follow all them steps to get your Flyer ID and Operator ID:
What do to once you have received your Operator ID?
Once you have received your Operator ID via email, you must label all your drones you own before you fly them.
What tool to use to label the drones?
I would recommend purchasing a label maker from amazon, the same one I use to print labels for drones, cameras and lenses. And never had any issues. Is also, reliable and cheaper. However other options are available too.
