Didn't like the yaw either, better to do an (slow) orbit with one point that stay's in the middle. You can see as much as with a yaw and it's more beautiful.
 
Ok for checking for obstruction, but to use as a part in a video that's something else it's a no go for me in a video ( I just cut them out).
Lots of people don't like them. They serve a purpose in the big cities because they show large ares with no flying over people. If you're in a rural area you don't need it. In the City sometimes I can only go up and spin around. It's my least favorite clip but still useful in some cases.

When I can only go up or down I prefer a panning at the same time I go up and down. Much smoother and you have different shots from the same place with a nice effect.
