What laptop do you recommend to use to get edit 4k or even 5k videos.

I have MacBook Pro M2 Max 1TBSSD and 32 GB ram, does awesome job. But the battery goes really quick when editing videos

I think it's 16gb ram. Not sure, gonna check that later this evening when I start my new edit.

That’s should be alright. Someone has mentioned that on windows laptops you need at least 32GB ram for editing 4k videos

it's 16gb ram. 4k no prob and with proxies it goes as a highspeed train

Lower quality video in 540p to edit that you change before renderring in 4K (or more) Here an explination about that.

I don't have any problem with 16gb ram

I upgraded from 8gb ram which was crashing all the time and now with 32 having no issues, running a bunch of programs at the same time.

Perhaps 16 would be OK but these softwares keep getting more and more heavy going and you may struggle soon.

With proxies I can edit in 540p so it will still go a while.

I do agree with you here too. These softs are pushing new updates that always require more from the machine. Maybe marketing strategy.
